Terms of Service
Last updated: August 11, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of DataSynthify ("dsfy", "we", "us"), including the dsfy command-line interface, the dsfy-mcp Model Context Protocol server, the marketing site at datasynthify.com, and the web dashboard at app.datasynthify.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, accepting an invite, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. Public Beta
The Service is currently offered as a public beta, open to anyone who signs up. Access may be limited, paused, or withdrawn at any time without notice. Features, pricing, and these Terms are expected to change materially before any general-availability launch.
3. Accounts
Accounts are created via passwordless ("magic link") email sign-in, OAuth sign-in with Google or GitHub, or an email invite from a workspace owner — there is no password to manage or lose. You're responsible for the inbox or provider account tied to your account and for any activity under your workspace's API keys. Workspace owners (the "admin" role) are responsible for who they invite and what access they grant teammates.
4. Your Databases and Generated Data
The core function of the Service is connecting to databases you configure and control, introspecting their schema, and writing generated synthetic (fake) data into them. In connection with this:
- You are solely responsible for ensuring any connection you configure points at a non-production or scratch database, and for maintaining your own backups before running destructive operations (e.g.
push --truncate). - The Service includes safeguards intended to reduce the risk of accidentally seeding a production database (for example, a confirmation prompt when common production markers are detected), but these are best-effort heuristics, not a guarantee — you must not rely on them as your only safety net.
- We do not access, store, or transmit the contents of your databases as part of normal operation. Database credentials/connection strings you configure are used only to establish the connection you requested and are not retained by our hosted infrastructure.
- All data generated by the Service is synthetic and not derived from real individuals.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate data intended to impersonate real people, organizations, or misrepresent facts as genuine records;
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or another user's workspace;
- Circumvent usage limits, access controls, or telemetry/authentication mechanisms.
6. Intellectual Property
We retain all rights in the Service itself (the CLI, MCP server, dashboard, and underlying engine). You retain all rights to your own database schemas, configuration, and any data you generate or seed using the Service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. Beta software may contain bugs; use it against expendable/scratch data stores.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any data loss, corruption, or unintended modification arising from use of the Service — including from seeding, truncating, or otherwise writing to a database you configured.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, particularly during the beta period, for violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time (see Contact below).
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves out of beta. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
