Data Attribution

DataSynthify bundles curated reference datasets (names, places, job titles, currencies, user agents, banking formats, and more) so generated data reads as realistic rather than obviously synthetic. Some of that data is derived from third-party sources released under open licenses. This page reproduces the attribution and copyright notices those licenses require, grouped by license.

MIT-licensed sources

Used to generate person names, color names, browser user agents, and IBAN formats.

CC BY 4.0 sources

Used to generate city/country data, job titles, and company/institution names.

• GeoNames — city, country, postal code format, and calling code data. "Data from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0."
• O*NET — occupation titles. "This product uses data from the O*NET 29.3 Database by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA), used under the CC BY 4.0 license. O*NET is a trademark of USDOL/ETA."

google/libphonenumber — real example phone number formats per country, extracted and reformatted from its PhoneNumberMetadata.xml. Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.

Unicode License v3 sources

Unicode CLDR — currency names/symbols, language native names, and subdivision (state/province) codes, licensed under the Unicode License v3.

Public domain sources

The following sources impose no attribution requirement; they're credited here for transparency.

• datasets/currency-codes and datasets/language-codes — ISO currency and language codes, released under the Open Data Commons Public Domain Dedication and License (PDDL) 1.0.
• OurAirports — commercial airport data, released into the public domain.
• NGA World Port Index (Pub. 150) — seaport data, a U.S. federal government work in the public domain.
• NCES CIP 2020 — field of study / major data, a U.S. federal government work in the public domain.
